Addictions Pharmacology
This course provides the participants with the
basics of addiction neurobiology. The
focus will be on identifying withdrawal and overdose signs and symptoms from
commons substances of abuse (alcohol, opiates, and cocaine). Medications in the treatment of addictive
disorders will be substantial component of the course. This includes medications such as Antabuse,
naltrexone, methadone, buprenorphine as well new drugs on the horizon. The course content will orient participants
to the evidence and efficacy for use of such medications. It will also provide participants
opportunities to explore attitudes, values and beliefs associated with the use
of medications in the treatment of addictive disorders. Presented by Sharon Morello, Residential Director, The Providence Center. 3 CEU's will be offered.
