In this workshop we will review the history of the Samaritans and their programs. We will learn about the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention-Risk Factors and Protective Factors and suicide warning signs and suicide risk assessment. Other areas:
-Introduction to befriending
-RI Mental Health Services for Children, Youth and Teens
-The Samaritans Youth and Teen Education Program
-The Samaritans Crisis Hotline/Listening Line Program Practice Model
-Open ended questions ans statements leading to feelings
-Samaritan' (RI) protocols for Teen, Third Party and Informational callers
-Befriending persons experiencing grief and loss
-Mental health
-Why seek professional help?
-Volunteering for the Samaritans
