Identification, Assessment, And Intervention With Children At Risk: A Developmental Perspective Part 1

A basic training that will talk about physical, emotional, self-injury and
suicide, social and cognitive signs of abuse or neglect by developmental
age. In cases where the risk to the
child is not imminent, such as in social skills deficits, very basic interventions
are offered in order to help trainees connect assessment with intervention.
There will be two parts to this training. Attending both is not required. Below is an outline of the topics to be covered:
-Physical
issues involve differentiating injuries to parts of the body that are not
commonly associated with childhood play.
-Emotional
issues to include capacity to regulate emotions- to calm down in emotionally
charged situations and to address challenges/problem solve and how to assess by
developmental age would be covered.
-Suicide
and self injury assessment.
-Social
issues the training would address include the attachment and connections
clients have to caregivers and others
-a
brief introduction to the issues of cognitive development for children at risk
