De-escalation Techniques in Youth Environments
Professionals working in social service agencies such as
residential care, community based organizations, and schools often interact
with children that are displaying aggressive behavior and destructive
behaviors. One of the most critical
skills for these professionals is to teach children to manage their feelings of
frustration, anger, or loss in more socially and developmentally appropriate
ways. Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) stresses
crisis prevention and crisis de-escalation in ways that help children learn to
avoid losing control.
This workshop will give professionals the tools to practice crisis
prevention strategies and crisis intervention techniques that support a more
productive environment for children and professionals. Students will practice their skills by role
playing and group discussions. These
opportunities allow workshop participants to practice activities and gain
immediate hands-on experience in the subject matter. Presented by Debbie Lloyd, Staff Secure Manager, Child & Family
