Leadership Development
Beginning September 26, 2007, we will offer leadership development classes provided by Technical Development Corporation (TDC)—one of New England’s oldest and largest providers of training, technical assistance and management consulting services to nonprofit organizations. This intensive training program, 8 three-hour sessions, will cover core management skills for nonprofit leaders. The target audience for this training program is managers with 1-3 years of experience. Topics to be covered include:
Part 1: Core Supervision Skills
Session 1-Defining the role of a supervisor
Transitioning from peer to supervisor
Session 2-Delegation and motivation techniques
Session 3-Providing effective feedback
Part II: Advanced Supervision Skills
Session 4-Project management basics
Session 5-Managing staff conflict
Session 6-Creating and managing teams
Part III: Leadership Skills
Session 7-Managing change
Session 8-Responsibility and accountability: Leadership & communication
We will also hold three scheduled opportunities for the participants’ supervisors to attend separate meetings. These meetings are intended to debrief the supervisors on training content and surface relevant issues that emerged during discussions.
The primary trainer is Gordon Gottlieb, HR/Organizational Development Consultant and as Program Director of TDC Training, a management training program designed to serve the needs of nonprofit staff, boards and volunteers. Mr. Gottlieb's consulting and training work at TDC focuses on the human resource needs of diverse nonprofit organizations, encompassing technical assistance, coaching and training.
